Katie Stuart
I am incredibly excited to begin my new role as Principal of Santa Rosa Technology Magnet School. After attending PVSD myself as a child, then returning to PVSD as an educator, it is a tremendous honor to take this next step in serving the district and community that have shaped so much of who I am.
Over the past year and a half, I’ve served as Director of Inclusive Practices and Student Support for PVSD, working with school teams across all grade levels to build more inclusive, equitable learning environments. While I am grateful for the experiences I’ve had in district-level leadership, what I am most excited about in this new role is the opportunity to work closely with students and families again. Connecting with kids has always been at the heart of why I became an educator. I look forward to being present on campus, building relationships, supporting growth, celebrating successes, and helping students navigate the journey of learning and discovery.
Prior to serving as a Director, I was a Program Specialist supporting preschool through 8th grade, partnering with educators to redesign special education service models and strengthen inclusive instruction. I’ve led professional learning for district staff as well as at the county level. Prior to moving into district leadership, I spent 14.5 years as a special education teacher, including 11 years at Monte Vista Middle School, where I taught all core content areas in grades 6–8. I began my career at Casa Pacifica Non-Public School, serving some of the county’s most at-risk youth.
As a Director, I broadened my knowledge of TK–5th grade curriculum as part of the Educational Leadership team. My in-depth knowledge of the 6th–8th grade curriculum is grounded in over a decade of experience teaching middle school in the district, where I developed and refined instructional strategies that support both content mastery and student engagement. That foundation has informed my ongoing work with school teams to strengthen teaching and learning, ensure alignment with standards, and drive improved academic outcomes for all students. My focus has consistently remained on strengthening teaching and learning to ensure all students, particularly those with diverse learning needs, can access rigorous content and thrive academically.
In addition to being an educator, I am also a mom to two daughters: Brooklyn (11) and Reese (6). I live in Camarillo with my husband and kids, and in our free time we love taking walks, hanging out with neighbors, spending time with family, traveling, and cheering for the Dodgers.
As I step into principalship at Santa Rosa, my heart is full of hope and commitment to partnering with our amazing community. It is an honor to join a school with such a strong foundation and a forward-thinking mission. Every child deserves the chance to succeed and feel proud of their progress each day, no matter how big or small the milestone. I’m thrilled to join our district’s technology magnet school, where technology and the Computer Science Immersion program is used as a powerful tool to support learning, spark curiosity, and give all students new ways to connect, create, and shine in their own way.
Eagle Pride!
